Uzbek Leader Decrees On Additional Payments To Title-Holders

On December 17 this year the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed the Decree “On increasing the volume of payments for honorary titles”, the agencies reported.
Signing of the document is related to the “goal of worthy assessing the work and providing for the additional material rewarding of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who have significantly contributed to the development of science, literature, culture and arts, economic, intellectual and spiritual potential of our country, upbringing the healthy and comprehensively developed young generation, as well as to the broad recognition of Uzbekistan on the international arena”.
The text of the document reads that “from January 1, 2008 the volume of payments to persons, who have honorary titles, including the honorary titles “People’s” and “Honored figure” shall be increased by 2 minimal salaries, and the honored title “Honored” – by 1 minimal salary provided that their amounts shall be established in accordance with an appendix”.
Also, the document envisages that “the payments to persons, who have honorary titles, shall be accomplished monthly at the expense of the State budget and self-financing economic entities”.
“The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan in a ten days period shall approve the order of assigning and carrying out the payments to the persons, who have honorary titles”, further reads the text of the Decree.
“The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan along with interested ministries and agencies in a month’s time shall introduce with the Cabinet of Ministers the proposals on amendments and addenda to the legislation based on this Decree”.
