On July 15, 2008 the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed the Resolution “On additional measures to stimulate the introduction of innovative projects and technologies into production”, the agencies reported.

In line with the document, the complex of measures shall be approved on developing the innovative products and technologies for a midterm perspective. Besides, the document stipulates that the Republican fair of innovative ideas, technologies and projects shall be held annually.

These measures are adopted with an aim of creating the effective mechanisms on stimulating the development and introduction the scientific and applied researches and innovative elaborations into modernization, technical and technological renewal of production, as well as provide for closer ties between science and production.

According to the Resolution, the bodies of economic management and companies shall establish the modernization and new technologies fund, as well as subdivisions or planning and design offices that shall be responsible for an innovative development of the sector and companies.

The means channeled to the modernization and new technologies fund shall be used by economic entities to finance the scientific and applied research, elaborate the innovative projects, experiment and design works, and their introduction to the production process.

The Resolution of President also envisages the tax benefits for educational and scientific and research establishments and organizations, as well as planning and design bureaus for the period until 2013. Besides, the equipment imported for reequipping the scientific and research establishments and organizations in the scope of modernization works shall be levied from customs duties (with an exception of payment for customs registration).
