Surely, each of us has dreamt at a scorching heat to find oneself at the bank of a pool, which lures with cool and charms with its crystal clear water. And it seems that the residents of some southern megapolis may only dream about it. But the Tashkenters and visitors to the city may in full feel the coolness granted by the fountains citywide.
According to the Narodnoye slovo national newspaper, there are almost one hundred big and small fountains in the city of Tashkent alone. For over the years of independence many new fountains have been built in the city in line with Oriental style and considering the national traditions. They give coolness and make Tashkenters and visitors to the city finely glad.
“At the moment, there are almost forty big fountains,” says the head of Planning and Technical Department at the Sharq Shaboda Closed Joint-Stock Company Nikolay Schpulin, “and all of them are the architectural heritage of the city. For example, the fountain at the square next to the Alisher Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theater has been designed as a cotton boll. It is still one of the most beautiful fountains in Tashkent.”
But yet the fountain No.1 at the Independence Square could strongly be called as the biggest one in the city. Each summer it attracts tons of visitors. After completion of reconstruction in 2005 the engineering design has been altered a bit with adding the nighttime lights, but still the external look of the fountain has been preserved, he added.
It is always populous at the Independence Square in downtown Tashkent. Since, it is the most beloved place for both city dwellers and numerous tourists, who come here to admire the charm of purling ponds.
“Not a single city located in this region can boast of such variety of fountains,” Mohamed Alaidarus of the United Arab Emirates said of Tashkent. “In terms of business issues I happened to visit the capital cities of many states in Central Asia, but nowhere I have encountered such beauty. When I come to Tashkent each time I go to the beloved destinations in the city – the Independence Square, National Park of Uzbekistan and areas next to Amir Temur Museum.”
Indeed, there are many beautiful places in Tashkent that create the magnificence of the city. And the fountains are one of the deserved architectural masterpieces of monumental ensembles of the city.
