The international festival Theatre.UZ/2011, held as part of Art Week Style.Uz, completed in Tashkent. It was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Uzbekistan, Uzbektheater association, Fund “Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan” and the Youth Theatre of Uzbekistan.

The festival was full of colorful, vibrant and interesting events. Creative groups, theaters and studios of the country presented their best works. Performances of theater companies from the Great Britain, Germany, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Israel and Russia were also held, UzA notes.

The international forum held within the theatre festival discussed issues related to the role of theaters of Uzbekistan in the world theatrical art. The results achieved during 20 years of independence of the country were considered and prospects for cooperation were identified.

Various master classes held by Uzbek and foreign theatre figures were devoted to modern playwriting, directing, design, acting and culture.

“There are no words to describe the impressions gained from the Art Week Style.Uz,” director of Beer-Shev Drama Theater from Israel Shmuel Ifrah said. “The events of the festival and meetings with Uzbek theatre figures became a great source of inspiration for us.”

The closing ceremony of the theatre festival smoothly flew into the Festival of National Clothes. This has a symbolic meaning, because in the creation of theatre sets and costumes there is a huge role of designers, artists, modelers, tailors and craftspeople.
