President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov arrived June 5 in the People’s Republic of China on official visit at the invitation of PRC President Hu Jintao.

State flags of the two countries were raised and a guard of honor was lined up at Beijing’s Shoudu international airport in honor of the leader of Uzbekistan.

President Karimov and Uzbek delegation left for Diaoyutai state residence allocated for them.

The current visit is part of regular political dialogue between the leaders of Uzbekistan and China, a mechanism set up to allow for advancing the bilateral relations on systemic basis.

Major events of the official visit, including a meeting at the highest level, are scheduled for June 6.

As UzA reported earlier, a joint declaration on strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China is expected to be signed following the talks. The two sides also plan to ink other important documents intended to boost bilateral interaction in political, economic, investment and other spheres.
