President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a decree “On
awarding a group of public servants and works of production and
social-economic spheres in connection with the 23st anniversary of
Independent Day of Uzbekistan” on 25 August 2014.
United States was one of the first countries in the world to recognize the independence of Uzbekistan. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1992. The legal basis of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States includes more than 50 documents, in particular, Declaration on principles of strategic partnership and cooperation, signed in 2002. Currently, bilateral relations are developing on the basis of norms and principles of the mentioned declaration in the spirit of equality, constructive cooperation and mutual respect of interests.
Congratulatory letters continue to come from heads of foreign states and
prominent international organizations addressed to President of the
Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov on the occasion of Eid-al-Fitr.
On July 30–31, 2014 the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Minister of Foreign
Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov will participate in the regular meeting of
the Council of foreign ministers of member states of the Shanghai
cooperation organization in Dushanbe.
Tashkent has hosted a panel discussion addressing the issues of ensuring equal conditions for political parties and their candidates at the December election to the Parliament and representative bodies on the ground.
