As has been reported by national media, on January 18 this year the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the Oksaroy Residence in Tashkent received the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, according to the Uzbekistan National News Agency, believed that the visit by the Russian official served as a fine opportunity to exchange views on the principally important issues of not only bilateral, but also multilateral nature in terms of taking the Uzbek-Russian relations up to a higher level.

At the moment, the cooperation between the two states covers political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and yet many other spheres, the reports have also said.

At the Oksaroy talks the First Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Shuvalov has thanked the President for a warm welcome. He said he was pleased with the state of bilateral relations and course of implementation of agreements secured in the framework of previous top-level meetings between the heads of states.
