On 29 August, President Islam Karimov familiarized himself with the educational establishment commissioned in Tashkent on the eve of the Independence Day of Uzbekistan, UzA informs.

The head of the state visited the capitally reconstructed building of the Republican Specialized Musical Academic Lyceum named after Victor Uspenskiy.

The new building was raised on the basis of the former Republican Musical College in accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers resolution.

The lyceum has four educational buildings designed for 900 students, as well as a hostel for 200 persons and three canteens for 210 places.

All study rooms are provided with musical instruments and modern equipment of 64 types.

The lyceum is a 12-year educational institution, providing uninterrupted musical education, which consists of 9 years of school and 3 years of lyceum.

Children who complete 9 classes of musical education may continue education here to master the music secrets deeper.

An information and resource center created in the lyceum contains 85,000 textbooks and other publications on music and art, electronic information and educational resources, and provides internet access.

The lyceum also has computer rooms, a languages class and physica, chemistry and biology laboratories. The institution offers education in 12 directions of music.

The President visited the unique organ hall in the lyceum and said he was proud that the young people were successfully mastering both national and world musical art.

Uzbek musicians win prestigious international contests and festivals, which fills all of us with pride and admiration, the head of the state said.

“The main goal of the reforms in the country is strengthening in the hearts of the people, especially young people, of the feeling of striving for the great future,” Islam Karimov said. “We have to make everything possible to raise our children as harmoniously developed and modern people.”

The issue of supporting young talents has been raised on the state policy level in Uzbekistan. The lyceum students in the recent years won prizes at contests and festivals in France, Italy, Great Britain, Sweden, Greece, Romania and other countries.

President Karimov also visited the Polytechnic University of Turin (Italy) in Tashkent.

The head of the state got acquainted with the new car Spark, launched into production at Asaka automobile plant this August.

The model radically differs from its predecessors with both technical characteristics and interior and exterior design.

The President left his signature on the Spark presented at the university.

“Thanks to independence we have such great opportunities like producing cars,” Islam Karimov said. “At the same time, together with developing the national automobile industry, we have to pay a priority attention to preparation of specialists capable of creating cars in accordance with modern requirements.”

The educational institution, created according to President’s decree of 27 April 2009, can accommodate 1,400 students.

The university has faculties or machinery building, automobile building, industrial and business construction, industrial architecture and design, information and communication technologies and automated management systems in industry and energy.

In special labs, the students will study the construction and the technologies of the engines, projecting parts, technological processes of car assembly, as well as other processes directly related to car production.

A technopark created at the university aims to increase the practical knowledge and skills of the students. They can carry out a number of operations here like metal smelting and processing, and measuring the durability and stability of constructions and parts.

The education is held in the English language. Apart from local teachers, specialists from the Polytechnic University of Turin also hold classes here.

The students have a sports complex where they can go in for football, basketball, volleyball, kurash, sambo, judo, track and field athletics, swimming and others.

The head of the state got acquainted with the information kiosk, where students may check the university news and notices, as well as class schedule. They may also book the required literature in the library.

“Opening of the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent is an important step to our tomorrow and our great future,” Islam Karimov said. “This university will train specialists of the car industry and professionals for other important economic sectors.”

“This is the only educational institution in Uzbekistan offering education on the standards of the Polytechnic University of Turin, which is rated first in Italy and seventh in Europe,” he added.

The President noted that only 18 countries in the world produce engines for cars, and with launch of the engine plant in Tashkent, currently built in cooperation with General Motors, Uzbekistan will occupy a solid place in the list of such states.

The Turin University in Tashkent has technoparks of such large corporations as Fiat, GM, Alitalia, Compaq, Ferrari, IBM, Michelin, Microsoft, Motorola, Nokia, Philips, Pirelli and Siemens.

This means local students have the opportunities to get acquainted with the experience and achievements of these companies. This will serve to increasing the potential of Uzbekistan not only in the car industry, but also in other highly technological sectors of industry and in design.
