South Korean delegation holds talks at Uzbek parliament

Members of the visiting delegation of the Republic of Korea headed by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Park Hee-tae held talks with the speaker of the legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Dilorom Tashmuhamedova on 10 January 2012.
During the meeting was noted that relations between Uzbekistan and South Korea have been developing in many directions, including in the field of parliamentarism. An important legal basis for this are the agreements reached during meetings of heads of the two states.
The guests were informed about the activities of the bicameral parliament of Uzbekistan. It was highlighted that developed by President Islam Karimov and based on principles of staging the “Uzbek model” of development is yielding tangible results – consistent reforms contribute to the ongoing dynamic and sustainable development of the country.
At the meeting it was emphasized that a high level of inter-parliamentary relations play an important role in the dynamic development of Uzbek-Korean relations. Friendship Association “Korea-Uzbekistan” is operating in the National Assembly, group for cooperation with Korea established in the Oliy Majlis, the country regularly exchange visits of parliamentary delegations.
The head of Korean delegation highly appreciated the attention of Uzbek government paid to a large Korean community living in Uzbekistan, preservation and development of its national culture, traditions and customs.
The same day, Park Hee-tae met with the chairman of the Senate (upper house of parliament) Ilgizar Sobirov. During the meeting, the important role of interparliamentary cooperation in strengthening the legal foundation of bilateral relations was noted.
At the same day the Speaker of the National Assembly of Korea visited the Independence Square where he laid flowers to the Monument of Independence and Humanism, as well as toured the museum of history of Timurids, UzA informs.
