Uzbekistan will play host to the third International Festival of opera and ballet "Toshkent Bahori" – "Tashkent Spring" from 16 to 27 May.

On 4-5 May Asrlar sadosi traditional festival of culture took place in Navbahor district of Navoi region.

The main purpose of the traditional Asrlar sadosi festival, held since 2008 by the Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan Foundation and the representative office of the UNESCO in our country, is to introduce compatriots and foreign guests to the ancient customs and traditions of our people, different areas of the national culture and arts.

A grand opening of the first in Uzbekistan On-line training center for journalists and technical staff of electronic media took place at the Bunyodkor youth multimedia complex in Tashkent.

The 47th Mendeleev Olympiad in chemistry came to the end.  The representatives of Uzbekistan, having won 2 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze medals, secured the first place in team standing.

On March 7 the Turkiston Palace hosted a ceremony, dedicated to the International Women’s Day. Women from all areas of life, members of the women’s committees, local community consultants on the issues of religious education and moral upbringing, laureates of Zulfiya State prize, senators, members of the Legislative Chamber, representatives of ministries and agencies, public organisations participated at the event.

The traditional chess tournament among the representatives of diplomatic corps, representations of international organizations, foreign companies and companies accredited in our country was held at the reception house of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Large scale work is being conducted in the territories of the Central, Northern, Southern mining departments of Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine, located in the cities of Zarafshan, Uchkuduk, Nurabad, Zarmitan, Marjonbulok on the development of underground resources, improve the infrastructure of cities and districts, building of a comfortable, beautiful and modern houses, cultural and welfare facilities.
