Universities hold entrance tests

All higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan held entrance tests on 1 August.

The State Testing Center under the Cabinet of Ministers said that over 385,000 young people submitted applications this year.

According to the President’s resolution, the universities will accept 56,600 people to bachelor’s courses for the academic year 2010-2011.

While developing the courses, the tasks outlined in the State Program “Year of harmoniously developed generation” were taken into account.

In particular, new directions of education were defined and new faculties were opened to meet the demand for concrete specialists in various socioeconomic spheres.

Currently there are 60 universities and 10 branches of universities in Uzbekistan.

Besides, a number of foreign institutions have their representations or branches in the country. Among them are Westminster International University in Tashkent, Singapore Management Development Institute, Torino Polytechnic University (Italy) an dbrahcnes of Moscow State University, Russian State Oil and Gas University and the Russian Economic Academy, UzA informs.
