The traditional international tennis tournament Tashkent Open among women is continuing in the capital of Uzbekistan.

This WTA series tournament started successfully for Uzbek players. In the first stage singles competition, Akgul Amanmuradova (photo) defeated Aravane Rezai from France 6-4, 6-3.

Another Uzbek player Sabina Sharipova, who is participating in this tournament for the second time, defeated Eirini Georgatou from Greece with 6-4, 6-1.

Other winners in the singles competitions were Misaki Doi from Japan, Yevgeniya Rodina, Ksenia Pervak, Valeria Savinyuk, Vitaliya Dyachenko and Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia, Ursula Radwanska of Poland, Anastasia Sevastova of Latvia, Sorana Kirsti from Romania, Eva Birnerova of Czech Republic, Alexandra Krunich from Serbia, Victoria Larrier of France and Eleni Daniilidou from Greece.

In the doubles, Nigina Abduraimova from Uzbekistan and Polina Pekhova from Belarus won over the couple Sabina Sharipova from Uzbekistan and Yekaterina Yashina from Russia with a score of 3-6, 7-5, 10-7.

Russian Ksenia Pervak and Ukrainian Lesya Tsurenko defeated Emma Laine of Finland and Mervana Yugich-Salgich of Bosnia and Herzegovina with 6-3, 2-6, 10-5.

Other winning pairs were Ursula Radwanska of Poland and Yekaterina Rodnina from Russia, as well as Eva Birnerova from the Czech Republic and Vesna Dolonts from Russia, Uza informs.
